Adelante Youth Mission 2015 - Misión Joven Dominicana
In March of 2015, fifteen US missionaries traveled once again to the Dominican Republic, bringing God's compassionate love to families living in deplorable conditions. Eleven new homes were built for eleven families - families who had been living in dire poverty and in structures that were unfit and unsafe. At the same time, our medical team saw almost 700 people, many elderly and children, in three communities. We were also able to provide school supplies and lessons at two schools, and received an invitation to another school for next year. All of this being possible through your donations!
Moving forward with love to serve the poor. . . one family at a time
Missionary Reflections:
Eleven new homes for eleven very poor families were built with more than cement and timbers – but also with God’s grace, the hard work of Dominican and US missionaries, and the amazing generosity of so many caring people .- Patricia Karl

The happiness and pure joy that I felt in the Dominican Republic was unlike any other time in my life. I can attribute these feelings to the connections, relationships, generosity and simplicity surrounding the mission! Thank you to everyone who has participated and helped make this possible! – Bridget Tiffany
We don't need to have an abundance of material possession in order to be happy and be fulfilled, it's quite the contrary, the more material possession's we accumulate the more stressed out we become, which brings me to Gandhi's quote: “Live simply so others can simply live” – Gandhi – Cheryl Floyd

The mission trip to Caberete was incredible. The best parts by far were the people that I met. Their smiling faces and gratitude were amazing. I plan to give my time and effort to this precious mission each year – Kristi Hreha
The “Let it be done to me” concept turned out to be the core of the whole experience, to let go and be swept away in a new culture- taking joy in the hard work and living in the moment. – Mark Maguire
While it has often been said, when you give, you receive much more in return. This certainly was my experience working with and for the wonderful, yet very poor families recently in the Dominican Republic. - Tom Doyle

This mission trip was so special to me and one that I will always hold deep in my heart. It is amazing how God could use me in ways that lit up the children’s faces. Despite how broken they were. Seeing so many joyful people in such broken places gave me unbelievable hope, and a new sense of gratitude. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to give love and labor to everyone in Misión Joven and I only pray I will be able to come again next year! – Alexa Hreha

For the first time I wasn’t an outsider looking in. There’s something unexplainable about first handedly being exposed to what seems like a different world. I feel like my whole perspective on life itself has changed in such a positive way, and all I can think is, wow, you can be genuinely happy with nothing- sounds cliché- but all you need is love!
