The Need Is Real!
We receive donations of medicines and medical supplies through various channels to conduct our temporary pop-up clinics. In addition to clinics, we personally deliver medicine and supplies to sick and homebound residents. With our pop-up clinics, we annually assist over 600 local individuals. However, our impact only skims the surface for the 15,000 citizens who live in the service area. Individuals are losing their lives due to injuries and illnesses that could be avoided through basic procedures or commonly available medicines. Therefore, we believe there is a great and urgent need for a permanent medical clinic.
On behalf of the Board of Directors at Adelante Youth Mission Inc., we extend a heartfelt invitation to join us in a mission that holds the promise of transforming countless lives. We are embarking on a crucial endeavor to build a modern medical facility in the Dominican Republic, and we ask for your support to make this vision a reality.
Adelante Youth Mission (AYM), a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1989 by Father Joachim Lally, CSP, has been unwavering in its commitment to uplifting the poorest communities in the Dominican Republic. Our mission includes building modest homes, offering educational support to local schools, and providing crucial medical care to those in need with pop-up medical clinics in poor communities. Over the years, AYM has fostered enduring connections between volunteers from the United States and local missionaries, transforming the lives of those we serve into our extended family.
Today, we stand at the precipice of a new chapter in our mission, one that seeks to bring comprehensive healthcare to the heart of the communities we serve. The Adelante Youth Mission is launching a capital campaign to raise $395,000 of the $595,000 needed for the construction of a modern medical center that will cater to the diverse health needs of the region.
This medical facility will not only provide essential healthcare services, but will also symbolize a beacon of hope in the community of La Cienega for years to come. With a vision rooted in compassion, we aim to build a center that transcends mere treatment. It is a commitment to the well-being, dignity, and future of the people we serve.
We humbly request your support in making this vision a reality. Your generous donation will contribute to the construction of the medical center and will also become an ongoing lifeline for those in need. Join us in this life-changing endeavor as we continue to build safe homes, provide educational services, and introduce a modern medical care facility.
Together, we can create a legacy of care, compassion, and transformation.

Thousands of families currently live without proper medical care and we are committed to helping them!
Community members in the Village of La Cienega, Dominican Republic do not have access to medical care for simple healthcare, illnesses, and injuries. Villagers, young and old, are not given the chance of treatment from common injuries or disease.
Father Joachim Lally and Tom Doyle, along with the Adelante Youth Mission Board of Directors, and Missionaries have been visiting the poorest of the poor in the Dominican Republic over the past 35 years. On one of the recent trips, Tom met a young man whose leg was “dangling and pivoting” in all directions below the knee. It was obvious the injury was not going to heal on its own. This man was destined to live like this for the rest of his life. It was clear that if the man had access to medical care and had received adequate medical treatment, he could have had his leg repaired. However, since he was born and raised in this village, this is his fate. With our new clinic, we hope to provide necessary medical care for tragedies such as this.
Our professional architectural and construction teams determined that a medical facility will cost $595,000. This will cover the construction of a modern medical clinic to be fully equipped and to operate for the first two years. A major donor has provided the initial $200,000. We are working hard to raise the remaining balance of $395,000. We have also budgeted for two years of operating expenses while the clinic is being established. We have already purchased the land for the clinic in the poor village of La Cienega. Our architectural plans and equipment lists are complete; our staff is selected; and our goal is to have the new medical facility open and treating patients by September 2024.

We anticipate a team of medical professionals to volunteer their time on a weekly basis from the West Michigan area and other parts within the Dominican Republic and United States.
With love in our hearts for the poor, we express our deepest gratitude for your kindness and consideration.

The photograph above is the site for our upcoming Medical Center, which will include the Medical Clinic, Community Center, and Hospice Care. The improvements for the Hospice Care rooms include the installation of new plumbing in the restrooms, new beds, fans, one comfortable chair per room, a table with two chairs, and a chest of drawers.
There will be five units which will serve as hospice living quarters for elderly homeless individuals who require the care provided by our staff.
The Medical Center will include a reception area, an emergency room, consulting rooms, a pharmacy, and spaces for dental, and ophthalmology care.
The Community Center is dedicated to health education for villagers, covering topics such as pre-natal care, diabetes management, vaccine awareness, etc. Our goal is to provide a welcoming space for activities and services including health education programming. These enhancements fall within the clinic budget. More detailed information about the budget is available to donors who are interested.
